PULSE MUSIC
New York, NY

Pulse Music is a six-studio recording complex located in the heart of Chelsea in Midtown Manhattan. Owner/producer JK Kipnis has worked with a wide range of artists, including Herbie Hancock, D'Angelo, Carly Simon, The Temptations, Marcus Miller, Melanie Fiona, and Jaheim. JK was signed as a solo artist on Verve Records, and has played on and composed on countless record projects and TV commercials. Pulse Music's advertising clients include IBM, Nike, Google, AT&T, and Coca-Cola.

Pulse Music has a collection of some of the best composers, producers and musicians in NYC, working under one roof, making vibrant and compelling original music for commercials, film, and TV.

In 2016, Kipnis commissioned Wes Lachot Design Group to design a brand new custom facility for Pulse Music in Chelsea. The new space features a spectacular live room, a control room with an analog API console, and 5 composer suites. The new studio emphasizes JK's commitment to the art of live recording as integral to composing high-quality music.

Control Room A features true Reflection Free Zone acoustics, RPG diffusors, and extensive broadband and tuned basstrapping. The console is a 32-channel API 1608 with Automation, with custom furniture for the console by Brett Acoustics. Brett Acoustics also did the acoustical installation along with Joe Salvatto, who did an excellent job of overseeing the construction of the entire project. Canova Audio installed the technical wiring. Main monitors are Dynaudio M3A's, bi-amped with Bryston power amps and crossovers. Nearfield monitors are ATC SCM25A's.

Tracking Room A features adjustable acoustic treatments and plenty of space for live drums and a Yamaha C5 grand piano. The other control rooms are outfitted with a wide variety of gear, and it is worth noting that Studio D (a film composing room) features a pair of ATC SCM100 monitors.

There is plenty of natural light, with windows in many of the sound rooms, and even the offices and lounge areas have natural light, a real rarity in New York City.
